Apart of Erica Catherine's US State Flower Collection, the Orange Blossom represents the State of Florida. The citrus Orange Blossom flower are shown on top of a blue grey color background.
The Orange Blossom was adopted as Florida's state flower in 1909. It comes as no surprise with Florida's Sunny Beaches and Warm weather that the Orange Blossom would take the spot as their state flower. Florida is the largest producer of oranges in the United States and a major part of the economy. Florida produces the majority of citrus fruit in the United States. In the early 2000s, 74% of oranges produced in the states came from Florida! Alongside the delicious fruit that comes from the blooms they have many other uses! The blossoms itself give off a mild citrus flavor and can be used in cooking and teas, just make sure to removed the sepals and stamen before serving! It is also the only state flower to be used to make perfume using the essential oils they produce. This much loved fragrant flower is celebrated nationally on June 27th for National Orange Blossom Day.
Inspired by the natural and antique details that call to Erica's Old soul, she aims to bring that special spirit to all of her designs. Each drawing is created by hand using a mixture of graphite drawing with watercolor layering over the top to create the ethereal and vintage inspired work that harks back to turn of the century botanical illustration.
