Apart of Erica Catherine's US State Flower Collection, the Magnolia Flower represents both the State of Mississippi and the State of Louisiana. The classic southern Magnolia flowers are shown on top of a blue color background.

The Magnolia was adopted as the state flower of Louisiana in 1900. The Magnolia flower was adopted as the state flower of Mississippi in 1952, and the state tree in 1938. The Magnolia was chosen by school children to represent the state in 1900. However, it took another 52 years to officially be enacted. The southern magnolia is a an evergreen tree, leaving large leathery leaves even after the flowers bloom. When the Magnolia flowers are in full bloom in April you can smell their perfume in the air. The Magnolia is often directly associated with southern life. You can see not only these big blooms across the state but it's name on streets, businesses, schools, and so much more! Magnolias often symbolize dignity, spirituality, and peace. The Magnolia tree is seen as true symbol of strength of character and brings that strength to everything associated with it's name.

Inspired by the natural and antique details that call to Erica's Old soul, she aims to bring that special spirit to all of her designs. Each drawing is created by hand using a mixture of graphite drawing with watercolor layering over the top to create the ethereal and vintage inspired work that harks back to turn of the century botanical illustration.
